Le prieuré de Ris est fondé par la volonté testamentaire d'Amblard, archevêque de Lyon qui, depuis 942, donne des terres à l'abbaye de Cluny. Ris est resté clunisien durant plus de 8 siècles

The priory of Ris is founded by the will of Amblard, archbishop of Lyon, who since 942 has given land to the abbey of Cluny. Ris remained Cluniac for more than 8 centuries

Le prieuré accueille une communauté d'une vingtaine de moines jusqu'au 16ème siècle. L'église prieurale est édifiée de 979 à 985 et agrandie aux 11ème et 12ème siècles
