La première mention de l'église date de 990. Elle fut édifiée avec un hospice par des moines accueillant les pélerins en provenance de Bretagne ou d'Angleterre et allant en pèlerinage à Rome au tombeau de saint Pierre

Die erste Erwähnung der Kirche stammt aus dem Jahr 990. Sie wurde mit einem Hospiz von Mönchen erbaut, die Pilger aus der Bretagne oder England aufnahmen, die nach Rom zum Grab des hl. Petrus pilgerten

The first mention of the church dates from 990. It was built with a hospice by monks for pilgrims coming from Brittany or England and going on pilgrimage to Rome to the tomb of St. Peter
